sequins always sparkle

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing my gorgeous friend and fellow Orana College  student, Maria from thefashiontherapistx .

We headed to Garie Beach in the Royal National Park where we spent the entire day photographing each other, playing around in the sand and sea and enjoying each other's company while we explored the gorgeous surroundings. By the end of the day we both agreed that this was the perfect location for an all day shoot as it provided a number of scenic backdrops including the beautiful beach, fields full of luscious green grass, industrial pipes and rock-faces and modern roads that gave an edgy vibe.

We shot this particular collection in the fields surrounding the car park to Garie Beach and we both loved the contrast that was created between Maria's stunning sequined attire and the country-esque backdrop of wooden bridges and bright green shrubs.

This was the first time I'd ever shot with a SLR camera and I am pretty proud of the results.
I hope to showcase more photographic stories here on Haus of Azile in the future as I delve deeper into my photography journey.

golden globes

This past Sunday evening (Monday here in Australia) we saw the 72nd Annual Golden Globes Award Ceremony take place. This event marks the beginning of the Hollywood award season and brings out some of the biggest and brightest stars of the moment.

Not only is it a time to celebrate the achievements and success of the film industry but it is a time for great fashion to be displayed. This time of year is one of the most exciting for us fashion junkies and allows us an opportunity to see our favourite stars and designers showcased on the runway and provides us with current trends for the upcoming red-carpet season.

This year at the Golden Globes we saw an array of different styles and designers represented on the red-carpet. The big trends we saw were bold colours including bright fiery reds and mellow sorbet lemon and yellow tones. We also saw a number of celebrities wearing more muted tones of white, silver and grey adorned with delicate and detailed embellishments and sequins.

To celebrate this exciting time in the fashion world I've put together my best and worst dressed from the event and my favourite and best-dressed couples.

I cant't wait to see what glamour and beauty the remainder of the awards season has to offer and what styles and trends will be showcased next.
See you at the Oscars!

BEST DRESSED
My favourite look of the entire evening was Sienna Miller in a bohemian-inspired embellished gown from Miu Miu. I loved this look as she appeared so effortlessly put together and completely encompassed the bohemian vibe. She was closely followed by Leslie Mann who looked absolutely stunning  in this bright yellow, figure hugging gown from Kaufmanfranco.

WORST DRESSED
With the good comes a small selection of bad and unfortunately this year I had to put one of my favourite actresses and fashion inspirations of all time, Keira Knightley onto my worst dressed list. She stepped onto the red carpet wearing a Chanel printed gown which unfortunately I felt didn't accentuate her body or growing baby bump in a positive way and cut off her gorgeous decolletage that she has highlighted so many times in the past. Melissa McCarthy also let me down in her homemade d.i.y gown.

Rosamund Pike in Vera Wang, Melissa McCarthy and Lana Del Ray.

BEST DRESSED COUPLES
My favourite couple of the evening was without a doubt Channing Tatum and his wife Jenna Dewan Tatum. Not only are they a super sexy couple who grab the attention of men and women around the world but Jenna looked impeccable in this lemon-sorbet Carolina Herrera gown and was one of the best-dressed women on the red carpet. Chrissy Teigen was another celebrity partner who I thought looked stunning and grabbed the red carpet spotlight in this gorgeous baby pink Zuhair Murad gown - lace gets met every time.

summer trends

90's Grunge is by far, not only my favourite trend of the summer but it is my favourite trend/style of all time.
I'm a 90's baby who grew up listening to spice-girls, dressing in overalls and watching friends religiously so naturally I'm drawn to anything plaid, leather or adorned with studs and I was absolutely over-the-moon when I saw those tattoo chokers coming back into fashion late last year.

One of the reasons I love the 90's grunge trend so much is because you can collect pieces that will become wardrobe essentials and get you through the entire year while still exuding individuality and a rock-star edge.
A plaid shirt is a great piece to keep you warm with a pair of black skinnies during the cooler months and the perfect accessory to tie around your waist in the summer to give you that instant cool-kid look.

It is the perfect trend to rock at night-time events, summer festivals and  on a day-to-day basis to keep you looking stylish whilst running the errands - simply add on your favourite ripped acid-wash jeans, a plain white tee and a leather jacket and you're good to go.

My go-to inspiration and style icon for the 90's grunge trend is European blogger Luanna from le-happy- who, in my opinion, is the queen of grunge! She manages to pull off so many different looks but still visually creates the definition of grunge on a daily basis and I love how she can so effortlessly combine all the elements of this trend without making it look cluttered or over-bearing.

However if you are looking for a more high-profile celebrity to seek inspiration from (that you have easier access to stalk) Kylie Jenner is a perfect example and another icon who captures the 90's grunge trend impeccably.

I also enjoy checking out street-style pages and blogs and looking at photo's from high-fashion music festivals and events to source ongoing inspiration and discover new grunge icons.

Just like rock 'n' roll 90's grunge will never die and I will continue to obsess over fringe, leather and fishnet tights.

coachella

Coachella.
The festival for dreamers, music lovers and fashionistas alike.

Held at the Empire Polo Club in the Inland Empire's Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert, the annual event runs over two consecutive weekends each running for three days and showcases artists from a range of musical genres including electronic, house, indie, hip hop and good old rock 'n' roll.

Not only is it one of the most highly anticipated music events on the festival calender but it is a cultural affair where fashion savvy festival-goers and celebrities can come together to express their personality through their impeccable style and trendy fashion attires.

Each year Coachella releases a breath-takingly awesome line-up and this year they certainly did not disappoint.

At Coachella 2015 we will see a number of international artists including Alesso, Porter Robinson, DJ Snake, Cashmere Cat, New World Punx and Odesza come together in the one place. They will also be sharing the stage with a number of our own home-grown talent including Chet Faker, Angus and Julia Stone, What So Not, Alison Wonderland and Australian rock legends AC/DC who will be headlining the beginning of each weekend.
(see full lineup at www.coachella.com).

To celebrate the awesome lineup and to get warmed up for the ground-breaking fashion we are going to see in just a few short months I've put together a collection of my favourite outfits from Coachella 2014.
I hope these outfits ignite your festival fire and get you excited to see out the rest of the festival season in style.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I hope everyone had a safe and joyful holiday season spent catching-up and relaxing with friends, family and being reunited with that gorgeous little food baby that's now crept back into all our lives.

Over the holiday season not only did I celebrate Christmas and New Year but I also celebrated my 21st birthday *yayyyy* which means I am now a fully-fledged adult in every country and am ready to take on the world (lol jks) but I am ready to take on a new year with confidence, positivity and passion for what I do.
To celebrate the number of new beginnings I have commenced in the past few weeks I have decided to share with you my goals and aspirations for the year ahead.

MY 2015 NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION IS (drumroll please)...
 to be more productive
I want to use my time more wisely and efficiently to allow myself to grow and achieve great things, create more content, become consistent with my work and to create a profile that represents my personality and character. I'm excited to make time to take on numerous opportunities that will not only allow me to grow but will help me discover myself even more through adventure, inspiration and experience.

Also in 2015 I would love to gain some more in-depth work experience within the fashion industry particularly in relation to photography and styling. A huge goal/dream of mine for the year would be to assist and/or intern with an industry photographer and experience the atmosphere of a fashion photo-shoot. I would also love to assist in the visual merchandising and styling of a shoot whether that be for interiors, beauty, fashion or food I really don't mind I would just cherish the opportunity to assist in the displays, visuals and set-up of a shoot.

Keeping with the photographic theme and seeing as I received a beautiful Nikon D3200 for my birthday,  another goal of 2015 is to undertake a short photography course - whether that be along-side my fashion business studies or after I finish I am still not sure but it is something I've wanted to do for a long time and pretty much the only course I have left on my bucket list,  and if you can't already tell photography is a huge passion and focus of mine this year and is a path I seriously want to consider for a future career.

By the end of the year I also aim to have employment within the fashion industry, preferably part or full-time doing something I absolutely adore in either photography, social media or visual merchandising.

My final 2 goals for 2015 are less fashion-related and more for myself but they are still just as important to my life. These 2 goals are to move into my own place - mainly so I can spend all my money on decorating an entire apartment - and to go on a holiday, I'm thinking North Queensland, Bali or Fiji - anywhere that's breath-takingly beautiful, affordable and within short distance of a beach.

I am so excited to see what the year 2015 holds for me and what opportunites and experiences it had to offer.

inspirational people

Throughout the past six months studying at Orana College I have been lucky enough to be taught both fashion and business by some truly amazing and inspiring people within the industry.
People who have done the hard yards and are still working their hearts out to achieve their goals and aspirations.

For a young girl from the country who has always dreamed of having a career in the fashion industry it is incredibly inspiring to be given the opportunity to converse and be in-contact with these people who have reached success and are able to share tips and tricks and their fashion journeys.

Two women who stood out from the crowd and really re-ignited my fashion flame were the beautiful Laura Wiederman and Danielle Mulham from The Vault Online, an interactive fashion website combining the worlds of online shopping and fashion magazines. These young women are not only incredibly inspirational and successful figures within the industry but they are extremely innovative, stylish,  down to earth and beautiful souls who are happy to offer advice.

thevaultonline.com.au
We wanted to create something that we would use ourselves. A style directiory that transforms your overall lifestyle. That’s what The Vault does. It transforms you.”

These ladies really caught my attention because, they too, started out as fashion students, interning their way up the fashion ladder and they understand what its like to be at the bottom, but they are also proof of how rewarding and exciting it is once you make it to the top and that your goals are achievable no matter how old you are or how long you have been in the industry.

As fate would have it I took their Fashion Styling class during a time I was feeling slightly unmotivated and unsure of what it was I wanted to achieve in the fashion industry - I didn't want to be a personal stylist anymore however I loved photography, styling for shoots and creating fashionable content. By introducing me to their website and sharing with the class the types of activities they were involved with on a daily basis  I was given inspiration and was able to uncover a potential career path to explore. It also introduced me to a way I could combine my photography and photo-shoot styling aspirations with my goals of having a platform to discuss trends, inspirations and personal thoughts from all industries including fashion, lifestyle, culture, beauty, music and travel.

Since their class I have been motivated more then ever to work for my dreams and I am forever grateful I was given the opportunity to learn, discover and be inspired by them.

Head to thevaultonline.com.au to open the vault to an attainable world of fashion, beauty, inspiration and happiness.

christmas wishlist

Can you believe how fast this year has passed!? The flashing lights are out, carols are playing and with Christmas only 15 sleeps away I thought it was the perfect time to share my Christmas Wishlist! These are some products I've had my eye on for quite a while now and not only would I love to be gifted them but any girl who loves fashion, beauty and the joy summer brings would love them too. Hopefully this post can inspire you for gift ideas and gets you in the Christmas spirit! PS. Mum if you're reading this...

TRAINGL BIKINI
With Christmas hitting Australia right in the middle of summer its the perfect time for me to jump on the Triangl bikini bandwagon (late I know) but I'm seriously in love with the array of colours they offer and I can't stop eye-ing off this lime green beauty! These swimmers are perfect and super trendy to wear to the beach, boat parties or even just under your everyday attire to give a cheeky pop of colour.

MANDALA TAPESTRY FROM SHANTIQUE DESIGNS
(or anything from this site)
Round towels are one of the hottest summer trends going around right now but unfortunately not only are they super hard to get your hands on, they are pretty pricey as well ($99 for a towel I don't think so). So luckily I came across the Mandala Tapestry on shantiquedesigns.com. These babies are only $55 and even though they are square they still have a circle outline so you can take that obligatory "round towel selfie" for Instagram. Apart from being a bargain and absolutely gorgeous they also serve as a fabulous multi-purpose item. You can use your tapestry as a bed sheet, a funky tablecloth, a cover for your couch or as a rug for your summer beach and picnic adventures. If you aren't already in-love with them after all that go check out their website because I literally want everything on the site, it's amazing.

WILDFLOWER PHONE CASE
Wildflower cases are one of the coolest and trendiest phone cover companies going around. I've been looking at these bad boys for about 3 years now and figure its probably about time I actually got my hands on one. I love these cases because they offer a huge  range of  designs and patterns to meet any taste and personality. Not only are they a great self-gifting present but they are perfect for  that person who is "too hard to buy for" or "seriously has everything", and to be honest who wouldn't want one of these cases
 - they are adorbs!

FLASH TATTOOS!
Flash tattoos are another hot trend this summer, they are sitting right on top of that summer must haves food chain along with the round towel and 90s choker. These metallic jewels are the perfect accessory to keep you standing out from the crowd at summer festivals, Christmas lunch and New Years Eve shenanigans. They are a great gift for all ages and will keep the young ones occupied for hours.
I can't think of a better way to spend my Christmas day then relaxing by the pool, eating myself into a food coma and reminiscing about my childhood with this modern version on the temporary tattoo!

BELLAMI 6-IN-1 HAIR CURLER
This is on my wishlist because, believe it or not I don't have a hair-curler. I rely on my trusty GHD to do all the magical hair work for me but sometimes I want to achieve a different curl and what better way to do this and get your value for money then by receiving a 6-in-1 hair curler. This curler not only gives you the opportunity to achieve 6 different curls in the one product but will hold that curl for about 3 days or until you wash it again. And to add to that list of awesomeness the website provides you with a discount code to receive $160 off the curler at the checkout! This is a great gift for the teenager you don't know what to buy for or any beauty lover, sister, friend or cousin who loves the perks of being a girl.

BENEFIT COSMETICS - CORALISTA AND HOOLA
The final products on my Christmas wishlist are the Benefit Cosmetics 'Hoola' bronzer and 'Coralista' blush. These two products are pretty much on my wishlist because they are that cult product I need in my life and as a student on a casual income I'm too poor to buy them for myself. I'm a beauty lover and these are just two products I want to add to my collection. They are a pair of high achievers that will give your cheekbones phenomenal definition and a gorgeous youthful glow. They are the perfect gift for your beauty lovers, makeup junkies or just as a stocking stuffer as they are a cult product with excellent quality and definitely will not disappoint.
